The live-action Kuroema series is gearing up for its global debut with a fresh trailer that introduces the opening theme "sign" from Japanese band LAUSBUB. The project adapts Tsunami Umino's manga, which has been serialized in Kodansha's Kiss magazine since August 2022.

The story follows Emma, a 30-year-old woman who hits rock bottom when her boyfriend breaks up with her and her company goes bankrupt on the same day. Her luck shifts when she wanders into a mansion owned by Chloe, an eccentric wealthy heiress. After a fire forces them into a living arrangement, the two become entangled in mysterious circumstances tied to Chloe's fortune-telling business.

The cast includes Hana Sugisaki as Emma and Mikako Tabe as Chloe, supported by an ensemble that features Yōji Iwase, Ken Mitsuishi, and others. Director Rikiya Imaizumi, known for the live-action Teasing Master Takagi-san adaptation, helms the project alongside his wife Kaori Imaizumi, who co-writes with him.

The five-episode series will premiere worldwide exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on June 12. This marks another live-action adaptation from Umino's work—her previous manga The Full-Time Wife Escapist received a live-action TV series in 2016 and a special in 2020, winning the shojo category at the 39th Kodansha Awards.

Kodansha has published four compiled volumes of Kuroema, with the most recent releasing in March. English readers can access the manga digitally through Kodansha USA Publishing, making this adaptation accessible to international fans already familiar with Umino's character-driven storytelling.
