Tokyo MX is bringing back its live-action adaptation of Ogeretsu Tanaka's boys-love manga Renai Rubi no Tadashii Furikata (The Right Way to Write Love) for a second season debuting on Tokyo MX1 in October.

Actors Genki Iwahashi and Satoru Sōma are reprising their roles as Hiromu Suzuki and Natsuo Washizawa, the central couple. Director Yasuki Satō and writer Motoko Takahashi are both returning to helm the new season, maintaining creative continuity from the first run that premiered in July 2025.

The manga follows Hiromu, who endured bullying from Natsuo in high school because of his appearance and manner. Years later, Hiromu reinvents himself after attending beauty school and working at a beauty salon. When Natsuo randomly reappears in his life, he doesn't recognize the transformed Hiromu. As the two grow closer and Natsuo confesses romantic feelings, Hiromu plots an elaborate breakup as payback for the old mistreatment—though their relationship becomes more complicated than simple revenge.

Tanaka published the original manga in 2015. The author has become a prolific force in boys-love adaptations: SuBLime has released several of Tanaka's manga titles in English, including Yarichin Bitch-bu (which received an OVA in 2018) and Escape Journey. Another Tanaka work, Happy of the End, also received a live-action series adaptation in September 2024.

The renewal signals strong audience reception for the first season, which successfully adapted the manga's blend of high school romance flashbacks with adult relationship dynamics. With the core team returning, the second season should maintain the tone and character work that resonated with viewers.

Renai Rubi no Tadashii Furikata Season 2 arrives on Tokyo MX1 in October 2026.
