The live-action Wandance film is taking shape with a new character reveal and teaser trailer. Anji Ikehata, known for roles in Yano-kun no Futsū no Hibi and Lonely Castle in the Mirror, has joined the cast as Hikari Wanda—the free-spirited dancer who inspires the protagonist to break out of his predictable life.

JO, a member of the &Team boy band, plays Kaboku Kotani, the protagonist who stumbles upon Wanda dancing alone at school and becomes immediately captivated. Director Naoya Kusaba is helming the project with a script by Keiichi Kobayashi. Charisma Kantarō, a dancer and entrepreneur, is supervising the film's choreography.

Wandance follows Kaboku, a high school student drifting through life on autopilot, living up to others' expectations. That changes when he discovers the school's hip-hop dance club and Wanda's raw, expressive dancing. What unfolds is a coming-of-age story about finding freedom and stepping outside one's comfort zone—themes that resonated with audiences through the manga and its anime adaptation.

Coffee's manga launched in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine in 2019 and has amassed 15 compiled volumes. English-language readers can follow the story through Kodansha USA Publishing. The series already has an anime adaptation that premiered in October 2025 and streamed on Disney+, giving the live-action film a solid foundation of fan interest.

The live-action film will release in Japan on November 27, 2026. With a talented cast, experienced director, and professional choreography supervision, the adaptation aims to capture the energy and heart of the original manga while bringing the film's dance sequences to life on screen.
