The new Magic Knight Rayearth anime is shaping up fast. At the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair on Sunday, producers unveiled a second promotional video, revealed the remaining cast members, and confirmed both theme songs for the series.

The opening theme "Otome no Tsurugi" (A Young Lady's Sword) is performed by Toaka, while Yurina Kawaguchi handles the ending with "Hoshiakari" (Starlight).

The newly announced cast joins previously revealed leads Ayane Sakura (Hikaru Shidō), Rumi Ōkubo (Umi Ryūzaki), and Rie Takahashi (Fū Hōōji). The additional voice actors are:

  • Mamiko Noto as Alcione
  • Ayumu Murase as Ascot
  • Hitomi Ueda as Caldina
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as Lafarga

Other cast members include Saori Hayami as Emeraude, Yūki Ono as Zagato, Mika Kikuchi as Mokona, Yūki Kaji as Clef, Emiri Katō as Presea, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio.

The anime will air for two consecutive cours—a half-year run—beginning October 7 at 11:45 p.m. on TV Asahi's "IMAnimation W" programming block. Yui Miura makes his series directorial debut, with character design by Satomi Watabe and scripts by Shigeru Murakoshi. The production is handled by E&H production and UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS, with music composed by Yuki Kajiura, Takumi Ozawa, and Shiho Terada.

The original Magic Knight Rayearth manga, created by the legendary group CLAMP, ran in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from 1993 to 1996 and follows three high school girls—Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu—who are transported to the fantasy world of Cephiro during a school trip. There, they're told that the world is dying because the priest Zagato kidnapped Princess Emeraude, whose prayers sustain their new world. Armed with magical powers as the Magic Knights, the trio must learn to work together to save Cephiro.

This marks the first major anime adaptation of the series in decades, bringing CLAMP's beloved magical girl classic back to the screen with a fresh creative team.
