Hiro Fujiwara is giving fans of Maid-sama! reason to celebrate. The manga creator will publish a special chapter for the series in the September issue of Hakusensha's LaLa magazine, arriving July 24. This marks the return of the beloved romantic comedy more than a decade after the original manga concluded.

The announcement came via the August issue of LaLa, the same magazine where Fujiwara originally serialized Maid-sama! from 2006 to 2013. This isn't entirely new territory for the author—she previously released a special chapter in LaLa DX magazine back in February 2025, proving there's still appetite for the series among both longtime fans and newer readers discovering it through digital platforms.

Maid-sama! tells the story of Misaki Ayuzawa, a student council president by day and a secret maid café employee by night, whose double life becomes increasingly complicated when her rival discovers her hidden job. The manga's blend of romance, comedy, and high school drama resonated strongly with audiences, resulting in 18 compiled volumes published by Hakusensha, with English releases from Viz Media and Tokyopop reaching North American readers.

The series also spawned a 26-episode anime adaptation from J.C. Staff in 2010, which introduced the characters to an even wider audience. That anime remains available through Sentai Filmworks on DVD in North America and has since found new life through various streaming platforms.

Meanwhile, Fujiwara hasn't been idle during the years since Maid-sama! ended. She launched a new manga series called Neko ni Wagamama (As a Cat Wills) in LaLa DX magazine in February 2025, with the first compiled volume shipping in October. Still, the return of her most recognizable work suggests she remains connected to the characters and world that first made her name in the manga industry.
