MangaGamer is bringing the Umineko When They Cry franchise to Western players with the release of Umineko When They Cry - Saku, an all-in-one compilation that bundles the entire visual novel experience in a single package.

The game originally launched in Japan in October 2019 as "Umineko no Naku Koro ni Saku: Nekobako to Musō no Kōkyōkyoku," followed by PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch ports in January 2020. MangaGamer's localization will include all eight main chapters from the series' previous entries—Majo to Suiri no Rondo and Bara: Shinjitsu to Gensō no Nocturne—plus three additional short stories called "Tsubasa," "Hane," and "Saku."

One notable feature is the inclusion of newly drawn character sprites designed to match the Steam version's upgraded visuals, while players can toggle back to original creator Ryukishi07's artwork at any time. The package also bundles Golden Fantasia CROSS, the Umineko fighting game spinoff.

The voice cast includes Daisuke Ono reprising his role as protagonist Battler Ushiromiya and Sayaka Ōhara returning as the mysterious Beatrice. Rico Sasaki performs the opening theme "Kasaneawase no Nekobako" (Nesting Catboxes), with lyrics and composition by Chiyomaru Shikura. New additions to the English localization include Nao Tōyama as Peace, Sakikuro Motoki as Flauros, and Inori Minase as Chiester 556.

The Umineko series follows a group of family members trapped on an isolated island during a typhoon, forced to solve increasingly twisted mysteries. The visual novel earned a dedicated following for its intricate plotting, compelling characters, and exploration of themes like truth, perception, and the nature of mysteries themselves.

The Western release represents a significant milestone for the long-running franchise, giving English-speaking audiences access to the complete story for the first time. MangaGamer also announced simultaneous Western releases for Secret Affairs: Sweaty Midsummer Rut and a physical USB release of Beat Valkyrie Ixseal scheduled for June 25.
