Marvel Comics and WEBTOON unveiled three brand-new webcomic series at San Diego Comic-Con, all designed specifically for WEBTOON's vertical-scroll mobile format. The announcement came during Marvel's Next Big Thing panel on Friday and represents the first wave of original stories created exclusively for the platform.

The three titles offer distinct takes on Marvel characters and concepts. Tony's Girl, written by CRC Payne with art by StarBite, reimagines a teenage Tony Stark navigating romance with Meredith McCall, daughter of his father's business rival. That Time Deadpool Fell Into WEBTOON...and Found The Longest Title of All Time!!! follows everyone's favorite merc with a mouth after he gets transported into the WEBTOON universe itself, where he encounters worlds inspired by popular webcomic genres while trying to find his way home. Developed by Studio LICO, X-Men Korea centers on Yeong-seo Go, a Korean high school student who discovers he's a mutant and enrolls at Hoseok Academy for the Gifted, only to uncover a conspiracy involving a megacorporation and humanity's future.

This partnership builds on Marvel and Disney's larger collaboration with WEBTOON Entertainment, which began in August 2025 with a global deal to adapt and distribute around 100 comics from Disney, Marvel, 20th Century Studios, and Star Wars. The companies are also developing a new digital comics platform together, with a non-binding term sheet signed in September 2025.

The vertical-scroll format represents a shift in how Western comics reach audiences, particularly on mobile devices. By tailoring stories specifically for this reading experience rather than adapting traditional panel layouts, these series aim to meet readers where they already spend time consuming content.

Marvel indicated that additional projects are coming down the pipeline, suggesting this is just the beginning of what could become a significant part of their digital strategy. The move reflects how major publishers are experimenting with different platforms and formats to engage both longtime fans and new audiences exploring webcomics for the first time.
