Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Launches with Studio Sanzigen Opening
PlayStation Studios and Arc System Works revealed Phoenix Cyclops as the first DLC character for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, with an opening movie animated by Studio Sanzigen. The 4v4 tag team fighter launches August 6 on PS5 and PC.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is gearing up for launch with some fresh reveals from San Diego Comic-Con. The 4v4 tag team fighter from PlayStation Studios and Arc System Works will debut Phoenix Cyclops as the first DLC character, arriving this fall as part of the Year 1 Character & Stage Pass. Ray Chase, who voices Cyclops in the X-Men '97 animated series, provides the voice for Phoenix Cyclops in the game.
The game's opening movie comes from Studio Sanzigen, with director Daisuke Suzuki helming the sequence. The opening features an original theme song titled "Stronger as One" performed by Keiko Terada (SHOW-YA) and mayu (NEMOPHILA), with lyrics by Kanata Okajima and music by MEG (MEGMETAL).
The fighter launches August 6 on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store (August 7 in Japan). An open beta runs July 24-26 on both platforms (July 24-27 in Japan) for players looking to try the game early.
The roster at launch includes 20 playable characters: Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Star-Lord, Storm, Wolverine, Magik, Danger, Doctor Doom, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, Magneto, Goblin, Carnage, Ghost Rider, Blade, Loki, and Deadpool.
Beyond the versus fighting, Marvel Tōkon includes an Episode Mode single-player campaign presented in motion comic format. The developers brought in a veteran Marvel Comics writer to help establish the world and craft the story.
The Ultimate Edition bundles five character costumes, animated chromatic color options for all 20 launch fighters, and the Year One pass covering four additional characters and one new stage. If you're planning to jump in at launch or check out the open beta this week, you'll have plenty of Marvel characters to master.
