TV Tokyo announced plans Friday to bring Peki Aoi's manga My Cold Co-worker Obsessively Loves Me to the small screen as a live-action series. The adaptation will premiere July 8 on BS TV Tokyo, with Karen Yui (formerly of the Takarazuka Revue) taking the lead role of Ayaka Hanazawa, opposite Yasunari Fujibayashi (Kamen Rider Gotchard) as her co-worker Midori Miyajima.

The story centers on Ayaka's unusual ability to read people's emotions simply by smelling them—a quirk that becomes central to the romance when she encounters the mysteriously odorless Midori. Unable to understand him through her signature ability, Ayaka finds herself drawn to the enigmatic colleague. Though Midori maintains an aloof exterior at work, he harbors strong feelings for Ayaka. Their relationship develops after a pivotal incident brings them closer together.

Ayaka Katō will direct the series, with scripts handled by Shiori Ueno. The production marks the manga's expansion into live-action territory following its growing popularity in print.

Peki Aoi launched the manga on ComicFesta, a digital platform by WWWave Corporation, in November 2022. The series has since accumulated enough material for physical releases—Suiseisha published the third compiled volume in September 2025, with the fourth volume arriving August 18. Kadokawa's BookWalker service is making the manga available digitally in English to international readers.

The live-action adaptation reflects the manga industry's ongoing trend of translating popular romantic comedies into television and film formats. Office romance stories remain particularly appealing to adapters, given their relatable settings and character dynamics that translate well across mediums. With the manga still in active publication and gaining momentum, the TV Tokyo series arrives at a natural moment to capitalize on reader interest while introducing the story to audiences who prefer live-action performances.

The July 8 premiere gives fans a chance to see how Ayaka's heart-reading ability and her mysterious connection with Midori translate from page to screen.
