Bandai Namco Entertainment dropped a trailer for the next major update to My Hero Ultra Rumble, the studio's battle royale take on the My Hero Academia universe. Season 17 kicks off May 27 and brings Mirko as a new playable character alongside fresh costume options.

The update will roll out in phases. Mirko and the initial costume batch arrive on launch day, while a new "D.J. Board" battle style centered on Present Mic releases later in June. This staggered approach gives players fresh reasons to jump back in over the coming weeks.

My Hero Ultra Rumble has maintained steady content drops since launching in September 2023 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game organizes battles around eight teams of three players competing in each match, with characters using their Quirks as the foundation for combat mechanics. Season 16 dropped in March and marked the game's 2.5-year anniversary milestone.

The seasonal update arrives as the broader My Hero Academia game landscape continues evolving. Bandai Namco released My Hero Academia: All's Justice in February as the franchise's latest action title, available on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Meanwhile, My Hero Ultra Impact—a separate mobile game that launched in February 2022—ended service on May 18, consolidating the publisher's focus on their remaining titles.

For players already invested in Ultra Rumble, Season 17 maintains the pattern of character additions and cosmetic refreshes that have kept the game active. The Mirko inclusion gives fans another fan-favorite hero to control directly, while the Present Mic battle style offers a different mechanical approach compared to standard Quirk-based combat.
