OceanVeil, a new anime streaming platform from WWWave Corporation, has secured the streaming rights to Chainsmoker Cat (Yanineko), a comedy anime based on Nyan Nyan Factory's manga. The series launches on OceanVeil on July 2 at 9:00 a.m. PDT, with simultaneous broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS11 at 24:30 (July 3 at 12:30 a.m. JST). AT-X will follow with airings starting July 25.

The anime follows Yani, a catgirl struggling with a serious smoking addiction. Set in a world where humans, catgirls, and similar species coexist, the series blends toilet humor and gross-out comedy as Yani constantly fails at her attempts to quit smoking. Seven Seas is handling the English manga release, making the source material accessible to Western readers.

Studio Bibury Animation is producing the anime with director Taku Kimura at the helm—best known for his work on Star Wars: Visions' "Tattooine Rhapsody." Takashi Aoshima (Himouto! Umaru-chan, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You) is penning the scripts, while character designer Riki Matsuura and composer Keiichi Suzuki (Tokyo Godfathers, Saint Young Men) round out the core creative team. Rock band Wasureranneyo performs the opening theme "Nanmonee," while Necry Talkie handles the ending theme "Kemuri to Blue" (Smoke and Blue).

The cast includes Yūko Natsuyoshi as Yani Neko, alongside Misato Matsuoka, Yurie Funato, Ayaka Shimizu, and Shiori Izawa in supporting roles.

Interestingly, the anime will offer two distinct versions. The "Evil Dragon Unleashed" cut "respects the work's directorial intent" and will air on AT-X, AnimeFesta, DMM TV, Fuji TV On Demand, Hulu, Netflix, and Anime Times in Japan. The "On-Air" version, tailored for terrestrial broadcast standards, will be available on those same platforms plus 16 additional streaming services in Japan. OceanVeil's North American stream will carry the series starting July 2.
