Kakao Entertainment has adapted the hit web novel 'Got Dropped Into a Ghost Story, Still Gotta Work' into a webtoon format, debuting on Kakao Page on June 5. The original novel topped Kakao Page's rankings in 2025 with over 370 million total views.

Kakao Entertainment has officially launched a webtoon adaptation of the wildly successful web novel Got Dropped Into a Ghost Story, Still Gotta Work. The series debuted on Kakao Page on June 5, marking the first visual adaptation of the beloved original work.
The original novel, written by Deok-soo Baek, became a massive hit after its release. It topped Kakao Page's all-genre annual rankings in 2025 and accumulated over 370 million total views, with more than 600,000 user comments from dedicated fans. Within just three months of launch, the series surpassed 100 million cumulative views—a testament to its rapid popularity.
Artist Ssyungnyung, known for illustrating I Failed to Oust the Villain, handles the webtoon's artwork. The adaptation aims to preserve the original novel's tone and pacing while taking advantage of the vertical-scroll format to build immersion. The story gradually creates unease within an ordinary office setting, leading readers through the discovery of hidden supernatural rules and eerie entity encounters.
The premise centers on Sol-eum Kim, a rookie employee at Baekilmong Company's field investigation team who explores urban legends while developing survival strategies to stay alive—and employed. The series gained traction for its unique blend of horror and workplace comedy, combining the paradox of continuing daily work despite falling into ghost stories with analytical exploration of supernatural mechanics.
The strong existing fandom has already generated significant merchandise interest, including sold-out exhibitions and pop-up events. Expectations are high for the webtoon to replicate this success and possibly expand the IP further.
Currently, the original novel doesn't have an official English release. However, author Baek has other works available in English through Tapas, including Debut or Die! and its webtoon adaptation. There's no word yet on English availability for this webtoon adaptation, though given Kakao Entertainment's partnerships, an international release remains possible.
