The Psyren anime adaptation just dropped its first look at actual animation. Distributor REMOW released the second teaser promotional video for the TV anime on Wednesday, and unlike the initial teaser, this one includes animated footage with subtitles in multiple languages.

Based on Toshiaki Iwashiro's manga that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2007 to 2010, Psyren follows high schooler Ageha Yoshina who discovers a mysterious red phone card in a telephone booth. When his childhood friend Sakurako Amamiya—who has an identical card—vanishes without explanation, Ageha becomes entangled in a dangerous mystery involving a secret organization called Psyren and a string of disappearances across the country. What starts as a search for his friend becomes a deadly game that will reshape his entire life.

The voice cast includes Rikuya Yasuda as Ageha and Mayuko Kazama as Sakurako, joined by Shunsuke Takeuchi, Sōma Saitō, and Yukihiro Nozuyama in supporting roles.

Satelight is handling production with director Katsumi Ono, known for his work on the Symphogear series and Yu-Gi-Oh! franchises. The creative team brings solid pedigree: series composer Shin Yoshida contributed to Naruto Shippūden and Yu-Gi-Oh!, character designer Akira Ōkuma worked on Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, and the music is being composed by seasoned professionals including Takashi Ōmama and Tatsuhiko Saiki.

The anime premieres in October. For English-speaking fans, all 16 volumes of the original manga received official translations from Viz Media between 2011 and 2014, so there's plenty of source material available if you want to get caught up before the anime arrives.

With this first glimpse of animation and a talented team behind the scenes, the Psyren anime is shaping up to be one to watch this fall.
