Pumpkin Night is coming back. Artist Seima Taniguchi confirmed via X that the manga will resume serialization on August 19, marking the return of the horror series after a 16-month break that began in April 2025.

Taniguchi took the hiatus to focus on their health, but fans of the dark thriller won't have to wait much longer. The series, written by Masaya Hokazono, follows Asumi, a high school student who becomes the target of a mysterious social media account called "Pumpkin Night." What starts as curiosity quickly turns into a fight for survival as the person behind the account hunts her down in a tale of revenge that spans social media and real-world violence.

This isn't the first time Pumpkin Night has needed a breather. The manga previously took a brief hiatus in May 2021 and returned that July. Since then, it's become a multi-part series, with the second part wrapping up in December 2023 and the third part launching in January 2024.

The series has had an interesting publishing journey. It originally launched on Manga Life Win in 2016 before moving to LINE Manga in August 2019, where it's now serialized. LINE Digital Frontier released the 10th compiled volume in December 2024. English readers can follow the story through Manga Planet, which publishes the series in English.

Beyond the main story, the franchise also includes a prequel manga called Naoko ~Pumpkin Night Gaiden~ that launched on LINE Manga in June 2020.

For Hokazono, Pumpkin Night represents just one part of a long manga career. They're also known for the Inugami series, which ran in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine from 1996 to 2002 with 14 volumes, plus a revised version called Inugami Kai. Manga Planet is publishing both Inugami Kai and another work by Hokazono, Doctor Mordrid, in English.

With serialization resuming in just a few weeks, fans eager to discover who's behind the Pumpkin Night account and why they're after Asumi will finally get answers.
