Rainy Day Serenade Time-Travel Manga Gets 2027 TV Anime
Kodansha announced that Namidaame to Serenade (Rainy Day Serenade), the time-travel romance manga by Haruka Kawachi, will receive a television anime adaptation premiering in 2027.
The manga follows Hina Katagiri, a girl who finds herself transported to late Meiji-era Japan on rainy days. This josei romance has been serializing in Kiss magazine since November 2014 and will conclude in November 2025 after an 11-year run. The series spans 14 volumes, with the final volume releasing February 13, 2025.
Haruka Kawachi is best known for creating Natsuyuki Rendezvous, a supernatural romance that received its own anime adaptation in 2012. That series dealt with themes of love, loss, and moving forward after grief, establishing Kawachi's reputation for emotionally resonant storytelling.
Josei manga targets adult women and often features more mature themes than shoujo, though still appropriate for general audiences. These series typically focus on realistic relationships and character development rather than the more fantastical elements common in other demographics.
The 2027 premiere gives the production team plenty of time to adapt the complete story, which should please fans who prefer finished adaptations over those that catch up to ongoing manga. With time-travel romance being a popular subgenre, this adaptation could appeal to fans of series like Inuyasha or Fushigi Yugi.
More details about the studio, cast, and staff will likely be announced as the premiere date approaches.
