Rent-A-Girlfriend fans have another season to look forward to. The anime staff announced Saturday that the series is getting a sixth season, which will cover the Cohabitation arc from Reiji Miyajima's original manga.

The announcement arrived just after the fifth season concluded on DMM TV on Wednesday, with its final episode airing on television Friday. Character designer Kanna Hirayama shared commemorative artwork marking the occasion.

The fifth season, which technically functioned as the second quarter of the fourth season, ran for 12 episodes starting April 8 on DMM TV before moving to the Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS, and CBC. The fourth season, which aired last July through September, covered the Hawaiians arc alongside the fifth season's continuation.

Director Kazuomi Koga, who helmed the first two seasons, returned to lead the fourth and fifth seasons after Shin'ya Une directed the third season. TMS Entertainment again handled production duties, continuing their involvement since season three.

The series has maintained steady streaming presence throughout its run. Crunchyroll has handled international distribution, streaming worldwide except in Asia, where regional platforms like d Anime Store and DMM TV take over. The anime launched back in July 2020 with 12 episodes and has been building on Miyajima's manga since its 2017 debut in Weekly Shōnen Magazine.

Rent-A-Girlfriend follows Kazuya, a college student who turns to a rental girlfriend service after a painful breakup, only to find that something genuine blooms from the arrangement. The premise has proven enduring enough to spawn both animated and live-action adaptations—the live-action series premiered in July 2022. With 46 compiled volumes published as of June, the manga still has plenty of material to adapt.

Fans awaiting the sixth season won't have an immediate air date just yet, but with the announcement coming immediately after season five's conclusion, production likely isn't far behind. The Cohabitation arc should offer a new direction for Kazuya and Chizuru's relationship as the long-running romantic comedy continues.
