Rilakkuma Short Anime Gets Second Season
The cute bear character's short anime series is returning for a second season under a new title. Production I.G. is handling the animation, with YOASOBI's Lilas Ikuta narrating and performing the theme song.

Aniplex announced the second season of its Rilakkuma short anime adaptation with a new promotional video on Saturday. The upcoming season carries the title Rilakkuma: Tekuteku Sekai Ryokō (Steadily Traveling the World), building on the first season's Rilakkuma: Goyurori Yume no Tabi (Leisure Trip of Dreams).
The first season debuted on April 4 and airs on TBS Saturday mornings at 9:25 a.m., with Crunchyroll streaming the series internationally. Details on the second season's premiere date haven't been announced yet.
Production I.G. continues to lead the project, with directors Yoshimi Itazu and Yumi Kamakura returning alongside character designer Chiyo Morita. The music team remains consistent, featuring composers Kōta Yokoseki, Yoshiya Ikeda, and Mizuki Kanno, with Legendoor handling music production. Keiko Matsushita serves as animation producer.
Lilas Ikuta, the vocalist from the popular Japanese band YOASOBI, narrates the series and performs the theme song "stay with me." Her involvement has become part of the show's identity since the first season.
Rilakkuma, created by Aki Kondo, debuted as a San-X character in 2003. The bear has built a dedicated fanbase over two decades, spawning various adaptations. Netflix previously brought the character to screen with the live-action stop-motion series Rilakkuma and Kaoru in 2019 and the stop-motion adventure Rilakkuma's Theme Park Adventure in 2022.
The short anime format seems to be working well for the character, offering bite-sized glimpses into Rilakkuma's world rather than lengthy narrative commitments. With a consistent creative team and growing international exposure through Crunchyroll, the series continues to introduce the beloved character to new audiences while keeping longtime fans engaged.
