Rina Honnizumi is the latest addition to the voice cast for the Chainsmoker Cat anime adaptation. She'll play Imoko, the well-behaved younger sister of the series' chainsmoking protagonist Yani Neko.

The comedy follows Yani, a catgirl struggling with a severe nicotine addiction that's made her apartment a disaster zone of ash and cigarette butts. Her repeated failed attempts to quit form the heart of the show's humor, set in a world where humans, catgirls, and similar species live alongside each other. Seven Seas is handling the English manga release.

The voice cast also includes Yūko Natsuyoshi as Yani Neko, Misato Matsuoka as Yaku Neko, Yurie Funato as Hame Neko, Ayaka Shimizu as Kansai Neko, Shiori Izawa as Al Neko, Riko Akechi as Tatsurō Ochinpo, and Tetsu Inada as the Landlord.

Behind the scenes, Taku Kimura (Kairyū to Yūbinya-san, Star Wars: Visions' "Tattooine Rhapsody") is directing at Bibury Animation Studio, with Takashi Aoshima (Himouto! Umaru-chan, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You) handling scripts. Character designer Riki Matsuura and composer Keiichi Suzuki (Saint Young Men, Tokyo Godfathers) round out the key staff.

The opening theme "Nanmonee" is performed by rock band Wasureranneyo, while Necry Talkie contributes the ending theme "Kemuri to Blue" (Smoke and Blue).

The anime premieres July 2 at 24:30 (effectively 12:30 a.m. July 3) on Tokyo MX and BS11, with AT-X airing following on July 25. The original manga has been serializing in Kodansha's Young Magazine, with the 12th volume released in May.
