Shiro Kuroi wrapped up the Dragon Hunt Tribe manga this week, concluding the story with its fifth volume that shipped in France on Wednesday. The creator announced the ending on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

The series centered on an unusual premise: a tribe of dragon hunters crosses paths with Nato, a human girl who was raised by dragons. Ki-oon, a French publisher, began serializing the manga in July 2024, while Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine picked up the series for Japanese readers starting last October under the title Ryūkari no Nato (Dragon Hunter Nato).

This marks Kuroi's second completed manga series. The creator previously worked on Leviathan, which debuted in France in January 2022 and later appeared in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in Japan that August. Leviathan wrapped in February 2023 after three compiled volumes, with the third volume releasing in Japan in May 2023. That series was licensed for English-speaking audiences through Abrams ComicArts' manga imprint Kana.

Kuroi's work has found an interesting path to audiences, gaining traction first in Western markets through French publishers before reaching Japanese serialization. This publishing approach reflects the growing international appetite for manga and the willingness of Japanese magazines to feature work already establishing readership elsewhere.

With Dragon Hunt Tribe now complete, fans who want to follow Kuroi's future projects will be watching for announcements of what comes next from the creator. Whether the manga receives a licensing deal similar to Leviathan remains to be seen, though Ki-oon's backing suggests there's publisher confidence in bringing the complete series to additional markets.
