ShoPro Books Ends Marvel Comics Publishing in Japan This March

ShoPro Books has announced that their contract to publish Marvel Comics in Japan will end on March 31, 2024. This marks the conclusion of their partnership bringing Japanese-translated Marvel titles to local readers.

While new publications will cease after March 31, fans don't need to rush to collect their favorite series immediately. Existing Japanese-translated Marvel Comics will remain available for purchase until September 30, 2024, or until current supplies run out—whichever comes first.

ShoPro Books, short for Shogakukan Production, has been a significant player in bringing international comic content to Japanese audiences. Their work translating Marvel's superhero stories helped introduce characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Avengers to readers who prefer consuming content in Japanese.

This change affects the availability of Marvel Comics specifically and doesn't impact ShoPro's other publishing activities. For collectors and fans of Marvel's Japanese releases, this transition period provides a window to acquire any titles they may have missed.
