Sega has big plans for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds beyond its first year. The publisher revealed a slate of crossover collaborations at Summer Games Fest on Friday, mixing anime, Western properties, and gaming icons across two years of post-launch content.

Year One kicks off with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem collaboration arriving in July, followed by an Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover in October. But the real eye-opener is what's coming next: Year Two will bring Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion to the racing game, alongside new worlds to explore.

The game launched last September across PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It later arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 in December, with a physical cartridge release following in March. All platforms support cross-progression, so players won't lose their progress when upgrading.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has already proven itself a crossover magnet. The game features guest racers from Sega's own universe—Hatsune Miku, Ichiban from Like a Dragon, and Persona 5's Joker all drive alongside Sonic and friends. Earlier collaborations included SpongeBob SquarePants, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Minecraft, so the addition of anime heavyweights like Godzilla and Evangelion fits the game's "anything goes" approach.

Sega also used the event to preview Sonic Pico Park, described as "a brand-new indie title" coming later this year, though details remain scarce.

With anime, gaming, and Western media all sharing track time in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, Sega is clearly betting that players want their favorite franchises to coexist in one accessible racing package. Whether you're a Sonic fan, anime enthusiast, or just looking for something fun to play with friends, there's increasingly more reason to hop in and race.
