Miyuki Nakayama's long-running manga Spirits & Cat Ears (Kudamimi no Neko) has reached its end after more than a decade in print. The final chapter debuted in Kadokawa's Comic Cune magazine this month, bringing the series to a close after 12 years of following its protagonist's supernatural journey.

Kadokawa will release the concluding volumes—12 and 13—simultaneously at year's end. The series originally launched in January 2014 under Comic Alive before moving to Comic Cune in November 2017. Yen Press, which publishes the English version, brought out the 11th volume in September 2023.

The story centers on Neneko Iizuna, a shy girl harboring a secret: she has cat ears. After receiving an unexpected letter offering her a position as a miko at a shrine infirmary, Neneko takes on the challenge of exorcism work despite her social anxiety. The premise blends supernatural elements with character growth as she learns to work alongside her new colleagues.

Beyond the manga, Spirits & Cat Ears has inspired two drama CDs, expanding the franchise beyond print. While an anime adaptation hasn't been announced for this series, Nakayama's work continues gaining traction in the industry.

Nakayama, known for her work on Blend S, has another anime on the horizon. Her boys-love manga Shota x Oni (Ore to Yu Nii!) is being adapted into an anime, with the announcement coming via the sixth volume in March 2025. That series debuted on Comic CMOA as part of Square Enix's "Gangan BLiss" boys-love label in September 2021 and has expanded to multiple platforms including Manga UP!, ebookjapan, LINE Manga, and Kindle.

With Spirits & Cat Ears concluding, Nakayama's portfolio remains robust. Yen Press continues publishing her Blend S manga in English, shipping the fourth volume this March. The conclusion of Spirits & Cat Ears marks a milestone for a series that found its audience across manga readers worldwide and maintained consistent English localization throughout its run.
