Takopi's Original Sin Getting Compilation Film
The anime adaptation of Taizan 5's beloved manga is being compiled into a single film with new scenes added. The six-episode series that debuted on Netflix and other platforms last year will be re-edited for theatrical release.

Takopi's Original Sin is getting a second life on the big screen. The official anime website announced that the six-episode series will be compiled into a feature film titled Takopi's Original Sin: Thank You, See You Tomorrow, complete with newly created scenes.
The original anime premiered last June on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA, U-NEXT, and other streaming services. Shinya Iino, known for directing Dr. Stone and its sequel, helmed the television adaptation, with character design by Keita Nagahara (key animator on Violet Evergarden and Sound! Euphonium). ENISHIYA produced the series.
The voice cast includes Kurumi Mamiya as the titular alien Takopi and Reina Ueda as Shizuka Kuze, the depressed earthling Takopi befriends. Supporting roles feature Konomi Kohara as Marina and Anna Nagase as Azuma.
Takopi's Original Sin is based on Taizan 5's manga, which ran in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ from December 2021 to March 2022. The story follows Takopi, a deceptively cute extraterrestrial who lands on Earth determined to make the melancholic Shizuka smile—though Takopi quickly discovers that time travel can't solve all of life's problems. The manga earned significant recognition, ranking among the top reads in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook's male reader rankings and receiving nominations for both the Manga Taisho Awards and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes.
Viz Media has licensed the manga in English, and the series is also available through Shueisha's MANGA Plus platform. The fact that this short-run series is getting a compilation film speaks to its cultural impact—what started as a brief but award-winning manga has now expanded into a multimedia franchise worth revisiting on the big screen.
No theatrical release date has been announced yet, but fans of the original series now have reason to revisit Takopi's journey with freshly added material to discover.
