Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that Yūjirō Hanma, the ruthless father of Baki from the Baki manga and anime series, will join Tekken 8 as a playable character. The reveal came via teaser during the Combo Breaker fighting game event on Sunday, with the character slated to launch in early 2027.

Yūjirō becomes the fourth DLC addition to Tekken 8's Season 3, joining Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. Kunimitsu leads the charge with an early access launch on May 27-28 (depending on region) and a full release on June 1-2. Bob arrives during summer 2026, while Roger Jr. drops in fall.

This crossover brings one of anime's most formidable characters into the fighting game arena. In the Baki series, Yūjirō is known as the "Ogre" and stands as one of the strongest martial artists in the franchise—a fitting addition to a game that's already featured characters from across gaming and anime.

Tekken 8 launched in January 2024 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Since then, Bandai Namco has steadily expanded the roster through seasonal DLC. Season 1 brought characters like Eddy Gordo, Lidia Sobieska, and Heihachi Mishima, while Season 2 added Anna Williams, Fahkumram, Armor King, and Miary Zo. The game also welcomed Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI in a previous collaboration.

For anime fans, the Tekken connection runs deeper than just the fighting game. Netflix's Tekken: Bloodline anime series, which adapted the story of Tekken 3, premiered in August 2022 and introduced new audiences to the franchise's lore and characters.

The addition of Yūjirō represents Bandai Namco's continued willingness to cross-pollinate its fighting game with characters from other media. As Tekken 8 continues its post-launch support, players can expect more announcements for future seasons.
