Bandai Namco Entertainment unveiled Bob as the next playable fighter joining Tekken 8's Season 3 roster, revealing the character through a gameplay trailer at EVO 2026 on Sunday. The brawler will hit early access on August 19, followed by an official release on August 24.

Bob joins three other Season 3 additions already revealed for the 2024 fighting game. Kunimitsu launched in early June after a late-May early access period. Roger Jr. is scheduled for fall, while Yūjirō Hanma—the father of protagonist Baki from the Baki manga and anime series—will arrive in early 2027.

The Yūjirō Hanma inclusion marks an interesting crossover moment, bringing a character from outside the Tekken universe into the tournament. It follows Tekken 8's pattern of featuring guest characters; the game already welcomed Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI as a playable fighter last December.

Season 2 added four characters throughout 2025: Anna Williams in March, Fahkumram in July, Armor King in October, and Miary Zo in December. The game launched with a substantial 34-character roster and has steadily expanded since its January 2024 debut across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The announcement comes amid leadership changes at Tekken's studio. Game director Kohei Ikeda, who helmed both Tekken 7 and Tekken 8 during his 20-year tenure at Bandai Namco, recently departed the company on June 1. Ikeda's extensive fighting game credits also include work on SoulCalibur IV and various Tekken spinoffs.

Tekken 8 continues to establish itself as a major esports and casual fighting game title, with the franchise holding a Guinness World Record for the longest running narrative in video game history. The anime adaptation Tekken: Bloodline, which followed Tekken 3's storyline, premiered on Netflix in August 2022 and introduced the series' universe to anime viewers.
