Tetsu Inada has joined the voice cast of the Kindergarten WARS anime as Gordon, vice-principal and school nurse of Black Kindergarten. The announcement came Thursday from the production staff.

Inada joins an already stellar lineup that includes Atsumi Tanezaki as Rita, the series' protagonist, alongside Kentarō Kumagai, Hitomi Ohwada, Satoshi Hino, Mariya Ise, and Romi Park. Shinsuke Gomi, known for directing episodes of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Secrets of the Silent Witch, is helming the project at studios Sunrise and Felix Film. Character designer Junko Yamanaka, who worked on Kamisama Kiss and Servamp, rounds out the creative team.

Kindergarten WARS follows Rita, a former legendary assassin codenamed Convict 999 who now works protecting the children of world leaders at an exclusive kindergarten. The premise blends action and comedy as Rita uses her combat skills to defend her young charges from assassination attempts—though her weakness for attractive men often complicates matters.

The manga, created by Yū Chiba, has been running since September 2022 on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform and has become a commercial success, with over 2 million copies in circulation. The series entered its final arc in March 2025, making the anime adaptation's spring 2027 debut particularly well-timed. Yen Press has been publishing the manga physically in English, with the fourth volume released in April 2026.

Beyond the main series, the franchise has expanded with a spinoff manga titled Kindergarten WARS -LUKE-, launching in November 2024 as a 180-page story focusing on the character Luke.

The spring 2027 premiere will mark the franchise's first anime adaptation, bringing Chiba's unique blend of kindergarten chaos and espionage action to screen. Fans can expect the series to air with both Japanese and English voice tracks, with availability across major streaming platforms to be announced closer to release.
