The Drops of God franchise has had quite a journey. The original manga ran from 2004 to 2014 across 44 volumes. A Japanese live-action adaptation followed in 2009, and more recently, an internationally co-produced live-action series premiered on Apple TV in 2023 with a second season debuting in January 2026. Between live-action runs, the manga spawned two sequels: "Drops of God: Mariage" (2015-2020) and "Drops of God Second" (September 2023-April 2024), with both available in English through Kodansha USA Publishing and ComiXology.

This anime adaptation represents the franchise's return to animation and introduces the wine world to a new medium. With its mix of established voice talent and fresh theme song artists, the series looks to build momentum through its second half.
