Studio Elle has officially announced the January 2027 premiere date for The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom (Yūkyū no Gusha Asley no, Kenja no Susume), an anime adaptation of Hifumi's light novel series. The studio released a teaser trailer alongside the complete cast and production staff this week.

The series stars Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Asley, the eternally youthful and eternally foolish sorcerer at the story's center, with Yōko Hikasa voicing Pochi, his Level 100 canine familiar. The plot follows Asley after 2,000 years of solitude as he rejoins society at Pochi's insistence, taking on new adventures while shedding his more embarrassing magical titles.

Keisuke Ōnishi (The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party, Is, in Fact, the Strongest) directs, while Kurasumi Sunayama handles series scripts. Character design comes from Yumiko Mizuno, also from The Healer franchise. Yuri Habuka composes the soundtrack at Lantis, with sound direction by Yukio Nagasaki.

The production team includes art director Kaya Aoki, compositing director of photography Yūsaku Murakami, and animation producer Suguru Shakagōri. Procen Studio is handling sound production.

Crunchyroll will stream the anime outside Japan, making it accessible to international audiences. The adaptation comes as J-Novel Club is simultaneously releasing a manga version titled The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom: A Pawsitively Fantastic Adventure.

The source material, originally serialized on Shōsetsuka ni Narō from January 2015 to September 2019, ran for 14 print volumes from publisher Taibundo. The light novels have built a dedicated fanbase for their blend of comedic fantasy and surprisingly heartfelt storytelling about an eccentric sorcerer and his equally eccentric companion.

With a solid production team and established source material, The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom is shaping up to be a fun addition to the winter 2027 anime slate.
