The next chapter of The Prince of Tennis II anime is taking shape. The staff revealed the opening theme "Walls And Bridges," performed by Aozu—a four-member unit made up of the voices of Ryōma Echizen (Junko Minagawa), Kunimitsu Tezuka (Ryōtarō Okiayu), Syusuke Fuji (Yuki Kaida), and Shuichiro Ōishi (Takayuki Kondō). The ending theme, "Kinkanshoku phenomenal" (Annular Eclipse phenomenal), features Keigo Atobe (Junichi Suwabe) and Yūshi Oshitari (Hidenobu Kiuchi).

Film actor Yū Shirota, who played Kunimitsu Tezuka in The Prince of Tennis live-action film, joins the voice cast as Romeo Fernandez from Spain. The anime—officially titled Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama U-17 World Cup Kesshō Member Ketteisen—will follow the competition to determine Japan's representative for the finals match against Spain.

This sequel continues the story from The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal, which debuted in October 2024 and centered on the Japan vs. Germany semifinal. The original U-17 World Cup anime arrived in July 2022 as the franchise's first new TV series in a decade.

Crunchyroll has streamed the series throughout its run, offering both subtitled and English-dubbed versions. The platform describes the U-17 World Cup arc: when Ryoma Echizen is kicked out of Japan's elite training camp for rule-breaking, he gets a chance to try out for the U.S. team instead. The catch: if he makes it, he'll have to face his former friends on the court.

The Prince of Tennis franchise, based on Takeshi Konomi's manga that ran from 1999 to 2008, has expanded far beyond anime. It inspired a live-action film, a Chinese live-action series, a stage musical, and multiple video projects. Konomi's sequel manga, The New Prince of Tennis, began serialization in 2009 and recently reached its 47th compiled volume.

The U-17 World Cup Finals anime will premiere this fall.
