The Salty Koharu Has a Soft Spot for Me is heading to TV this fall. The anime adaptation of Kazami Sawatari and illustrator Achiki's light novel series will debut on October 6 at 8:30 p.m. on AT-X, with same-day airings on Tokyo MX, BS-TBS, WOWOW, CBC, and MBS. Japanese viewers can stream the series on d Anime Store and U-NEXT starting that evening at 10:30 p.m.

The series is a coming-of-age romantic comedy about two sides of the same coin: Sōta Oshio, a café worker, and Koharu Satō, a classmate known around school as cold and distant. When Sōta discovers that Koharu's icy demeanor masks shyness and awkwardness, the gap between them shrinks fast—and so do their chances of admitting their true feelings.

The cast includes Hiiro Ishibashi as Sōta and Miku Itō as Koharu, alongside supporting roles from Miyu Tomita, Chiaki Kobayashi, Yoshino Aoyama, and Hisako Kanemoto. Director Fumihiro Yoshimura (My Wife Has No Emotion, Jungle Emperor Leo) is helming the project at Tezuka Productions, with Takashi Aoshima handling series scripts. Aoshima has written for The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You and Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out, bringing experience with ensemble romantic comedies to the role.

Character designer Daisuke Okushima and composer Shun Narita (365 Days to the Wedding, The Girl in Twilight) round out the creative team. The opening theme "Sugar Salt" is performed by Masayoshi Ōishi, while the ending theme "Hatsukoi Reply" (First Love Reply) features HoneyWorks and vocalist Hoshikawa Sara.

The light novel series, published under Shogakukan's Gagaga Bunko imprint since 2019, has grown to 13 volumes with the latest arriving October 16. A manga adaptation by Kaya Tetsuyama has been serialized since May 2020 and will see its 11th compiled volume published October 9.
