To You in the Beyond, an anime film based on Akiko Abe's 2017 novel Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e, has added Naohito Fujiki to its cast. Fujiki will voice Nishina, the homeroom teacher who keeps watch over protagonist Kazuki Tsukigase.

The film's cast also includes Hiiro Ishibashi as Kazuki, Anna Nagase as the mysterious Nao Akishika, Simba Tsuchiya as classmate Mikiya Ozaki, and Hiroshi Tamaki as Kōzu, a character who holds crucial secrets.

Directed by Junichi Wada (HIGH CARD) at TMS Entertainment, the film adapts a story centered on Kazuki, a high school student who transfers to a remote island to escape his past. There, he discovers an inlet with a dark reputation—locals say people vanish there. When Kazuki explores the inlet, he finds an unconscious girl. After bringing her to the clinic, she awakens with no memory except her name (Nao), age (16), and a cryptic year: 1974.

Screenplay duties fall to Sayaka Kuwamura, known for work on Strobe Edge and Josee, The Tiger and the Fish. Character design and chief animation direction come from Hechima, who worked on Cosmic Princess Kaguya!. Shochiku is handling distribution.

The film opens in Japan on October 9. International release details are expected later.

The novel has seen several adaptations since its publication. Shueisha released the original book with illustrations by syo5, and a manga adaptation by Haruka Chino began serialization on Tonari no Young Jump in August 2025, with the first volume compiled and published in February.
