Villains Are Destined to Die Webtoon Wraps Main Story After 5 Years
The Villains Are Destined to Die webtoon concluded its main storyline in South Korea after nearly five years of serialization. The series plans a spin-off after a hiatus, while its English translation continues on Tapas.

The Villains Are Destined to Die webtoon has officially wrapped its main story on Kakao Page in South Korea, ending its serialization with Chapter 214 on Friday. The conclusion marks the end of nearly five years of publication since the webtoon's 2020 launch, though creators have signaled plans to return with a spin-off series after taking a break.
Adapted from Gwon Gyeoeul's web novel, the series became a standout entry in the reincarnated-villainess romantasy genre. The story follows Penelope Eckhart, a gamer who finds herself transported into a dating sim game—but on hard mode and as the hated villain rather than the heroine. Every route leads to death, forcing her to use her game knowledge to survive encounters with her brothers, the prince, and everyday hazards like forks.
The franchise has achieved impressive engagement across formats. The original web novel surpassed 1.7 million views and 145,000 likes, while the webtoon accumulated 14.8 million views and 1.5 million likes on Kakao Page. The English webtoon translation on Tapas has become one of the platform's most-read titles, with the latest chapter update (Chapter 210) rolling out through Season 5 Part 2 in March.
Beyond digital serialization, Ize Press has expanded the property into print. The publisher is releasing the novel series across five volumes in print, eBook, and audio formats, with the fourth volume arriving September 15 and the ninth webtoon volume coming August 18. These releases reflect the franchise's strong international fanbase and continued commercial momentum.
Drawn by SUOL, the webtoon remains available on Tapas for English readers, though they're currently four chapters behind the Korean version. The gap between releases gives fans time to anticipate how the Korean serialization officially ends, while the property's continued print expansion suggests Ize Press sees longevity beyond the main webtoon's conclusion. With a spin-off planned, the world of Villains Are Destined to Die appears far from over—just temporarily paused.
