The latest entry in the Space Battleship Yamato remake project has an official title and release date. Bandai Namco Filmworks announced Friday that the seventh film in Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199 will be called Nijiiro no Rinne (Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation) and premiere in Japan on October 30.

The studio released a teaser visual designed by concept artist Kia Asamiya to accompany the announcement. Details about the film's plot remain under wraps, though the sixth film, Aoi Meikyū (Blue Labyrinth), just opened June 26 and sent the Yamato crew to present-day 2026 Tokyo through a space-time anomaly.

The Film Series So Far

This seven-film format gives the Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 story room to breathe. The first film, Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), launched in July 2024 and earned roughly $376,000 in its opening three days. The second installment, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun), arrived in November 2024 and pulled in about $410,000 during the same period. Both films received Blu-ray and DVD releases.

The third, fourth, and fifth films followed in April 2025, October 2025, and February 2026 respectively, with each building on the franchise's legacy.

Creative Team

Naomichi Yamato (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) directs the series, with Harutoshi Fukui serving as supervising director, head writer, and scriptwriter. Nobuteru Yūki returns as character designer, while mechanical design duties fall to Junichirō Tamamori, Mika Akitaka, and Yasushi Ishizu. Akira Miyagawa and Shū Kanematsu compose the score.

The original Space Battleship Yamato creator Yoshinobu Nishizaki receives story credit, with his son Shōji Nishizaki handling production supervision and copyright oversight. Outside Japan, Crunchyroll streams the films under the Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199 title.

With the seventh film confirmed for October, fans of the legendary franchise can expect the story's conclusion later this year.
