Hina Suguta has joined the cast of Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers as Kaede Narumi, a newly appointed DST commander making her debut in the anime's second half. The character first appeared in episode 13 on Tuesday, with the second part officially launching on July 7.

Alongside Suguta's casting, the production revealed character visuals for Ramaga and Ryūsei Oda. The expanded cast also includes Tomoaki Maeno, Aya Endō, Hiroshi Shirokuma, Maaya Sakamoto, and Takehito Koyasu in supporting roles.

The anime, produced by Sunrise under director Yōichi Fujita (Gintama, Mr. Osomatsu), serves as a modern sequel to the original 1988-89 Yoroiden Samurai Troopers series. The story follows five boys in present-day Shinjuku who wear Yoroi Gear samurai armor to battle the demon emperor Arago. Shōgo Mutō (Crows Zero) supervises and writes the scripts, while a roster of skilled character designers handles everything from main characters to the iconic Yoroi Gear designs.

The second part also brings fresh opening and ending themes. Dannie May takes over vocals for the new opening "Bad Idenshi" (Bad Gene), replacing blank paper's "YOAKE," while karanoah performs the new ending "Bakemon" in place of ONE OR EIGHT's "POWER."

The anime premiered on January 6 on Tokyo MX and has been streaming on Crunchyroll internationally, alongside Japanese platforms U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, and d Anime Store. It also aired on Kansai TV and BS11.

For Western fans, the original Yoroiden Samurai Troopers became a phenomenon when Cartoon Network aired it as Ronin Warriors during the late 1990s. That legacy continues with this new sequel, bringing the armored warriors back for a new generation while honoring the franchise's roots.
