Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers, the new sequel to the classic 1988 Yoroiden Samurai Troopers series, has confirmed the casting of Hina Suguta as Kaede Narumi, who takes on the role of DST commander in the anime's second cours. The character made her debut in episode 13 when the second part aired on July 7.

The staff also revealed character visuals for Ramaga and Ryūsei Oda. The expanded cast for season two includes Tomoaki Maeno, Aya Endō, Hiroshi Shirokuma, Maaya Sakamoto, and Takehito Koyasu in new roles.

The sequel, directed by Yōichi Fujita at Sunrise, takes place in present-day Shinjuku and follows five boys who don Yoroi Gear samurai armor to battle the demon emperor Arago. Shōgo Mutō is supervising and writing scripts, while Shūji Katayama (Overlord) handles the score.

The second part introduced new opening and ending themes as well. Dannie May performs the opening "Bad Idenshi" (Bad Gene), and karanoah performs the ending "Bakemon," replacing the first part's themes by blank paper and ONE OR EIGHT.

The anime premiered January 6 on Tokyo MX and streams on Crunchyroll alongside domestic Japanese platforms U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, and d Anime Store. It also airs on Kansai TV and BS11.

The original Yoroiden Samurai Troopers ran in 1988-1989 and became known to Western audiences as Ronin Warriors on Cartoon Network. Discotek Media released the full series on DVD with English subtitles in 2015 and also handled the Samurai Troopers OVA releases.
