Asian Kung-Fu Generation Releases New Single with Ikuko Harada Collaboration
ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION has released "Okaeri Johnny" (Welcome Back Johnny), the lead track from their upcoming EP "Fujieda EP" set for March 25th release. The song became available for streaming on March 4th and features a notable collaboration with Ikuko Harada, the vocalist from indie pop trio Clammbon.
The accompanying music video stars actress Yamazaki Hirona, who's shown enjoying "asa-ra" (morning ramen) - a popular Japanese comfort food trend of having ramen for breakfast. The visual treatment adds a distinctly Japanese cultural touch to complement the track's themes.
For international fans, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION (often shortened to Ajikan) remains one of Japan's most influential alternative rock bands since forming in 1996. Their blend of indie rock sensibilities with mainstream appeal has earned them a devoted following both domestically and abroad, with several of their songs serving as anime opening themes over the years.
Ikuko Harada brings her ethereal vocal style to the collaboration. As Clammbon's frontwoman, she's known for her delicate yet powerful voice that has graced numerous experimental pop compositions since the late 1990s.
The "Fujieda EP" represents another chapter in ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION's prolific discography, continuing their tradition of releasing shorter format releases between full albums. The EP takes its name from Fujieda, a city in Shizuoka Prefecture known for its tea production and scenic mountain views.
