envy and MONO are launching an audition for emerging artists hoping to perform at their new indoor festival, THE ARGUMENT -Beginning to see the light-, taking place October 25, 2026, at Spotify O-EAST and Spotify O-WEST in Tokyo.

The audition is designed to discover next-generation talent, with organizers emphasizing that they're looking for artists regardless of nationality, age, experience level, or fame. The core requirement: genuine passion for live performance and music, plus the conviction to trust your own voice and creative instincts—even if the path isn't polished.

Artists interested in applying have until July 12, 2026, at 11:59 PM to submit. Tickets go on sale July 1 through e-plus.

The Lineup

The festival already boasts an impressive roster. Beyond the curators envy and MONO, confirmed performers include AMENRA, Crystal Lake, kanekoayano, LOSTAGE, NTBLS, pageninetynine, PALM, Stranded, The Novembers, and toe—a mix of established and innovative acts across hardcore, post-rock, and experimental genres.

Who Is envy?

For those unfamiliar with the curators, envy is a Tokyo-based hardcore band formed in 1995 known for dramatic compositions and intense vocal delivery—sometimes described as "passionate hardcore." They've built international respect, releasing music through post-rock legends MOGWAI's record label and performing at Fuji Rock Festival 2006. The band remains one of Japan's most compelling underground acts.

MONO, meanwhile, is celebrated for their expansive post-rock sound, blending instrumental layers with emotional depth.

This festival represents a significant platform for emerging artists, drawing from two respected voices in Japan's experimental and rock music scenes. If you're an up-and-coming act with something genuine to say, this audition is worth your attention.
