Bokuao is gearing up for summer with the full release details for their eighth single, "FUNKY SUMMER," dropping June 3. The Akimoto Yasushi-produced group revealed a varied tracklist across five different editions, each packed with different bonus material.

The title track "FUNKY SUMMER" leads all versions as an all-member vocal performance with Kanazawa Ami as the main vocalist. "Fuusen wa Byousoku 3 Metoru de Joushourushiru" ("Balloons Rise at 3 Meters Per Second") appears across all formats with Yagi Niai handling main vocals.

Beyond these core tracks, each edition gets exclusive content. Type-A adds "Natsu YASUMING!," a unit track featuring three current high school students: Kudo Yuia, Sugiura Hikoe, and Yaegashi Miisaki. Type-B swaps this for "Utsukushii Kyouhan" ("Beautiful Accomplice"), a duet with Hasegawa Kisumi and Yoshimoto Konna. The LIVE and Event editions include "Amekammuri" ("Rain Crown"), a choir-style song led by Hayasaki Suzuki and Yanagibori Karei.

The physical formats offer different viewing experiences. Type-A's Blu-ray contains the "FUNKY SUMMER" music video and its making-of documentary. Type-B includes footage from Bokuao's 2026 spring nationwide tour (March 29-April 12). The LIVE edition features concert footage from "Bokuao Festival 2025" and "BOKUAO Seishun Yoji 2025."

Bokuao has grown rapidly since their 2023 debut, launching from over 35,000 audition applicants down to 23 members. They won the Japan Record Awards' Newcomer Prize in December and have maintained steady momentum with this being their third release since debut. The multi-edition strategy gives fans various ways to collect, with options ranging from CD-only standard editions to comprehensive packages with concert footage and music video content.
