BOØWY fans are in for a treat this summer. The legendary Japanese rock band's historic 1986 Budokan concert is getting a fresh digital remaster, and it's coming to YouTube on July 2 at 6:30 PM JST.

The performance comes from the live album "GIGS" JUST A HERO TOUR 1986 NAKED, originally released in 2012. This was BOØWY's first-ever Budokan show, and it's remained a defining moment in the band's mythology four decades later. Fans have continued to celebrate it as a legendary performance, so hearing it with updated audio quality is a big deal.

The remaster was handled by Tatsuya Sakamoto, who's worked on numerous BOØWY projects over the years. All 19 tracks will be available during the premiere, and here's the kicker—the end of the full listen will include new information about BOØWY. No details yet on what that announcement might be, but it's enough to get longtime supporters excited.

One important note: this is a one-time premiere event. There won't be an archive version available afterward, so fans won't be able to catch it later on demand. If you want to experience this remaster, you'll need to tune in live.

BOØWY was one of Japan's most influential rock acts, active from 1981 to 1988. They exploded into mainstream consciousness in 1986 with their fourth album JUST A HERO and the hit single "B·BLUE," which sparked a nationwide band boom. Despite their popularity at its peak, the group announced their breakup in December 1987 at Shibuya Kokaido. Their final performances came in April 1988 at the newly completed Tokyo Dome.

With this remaster landing alongside the mysterious new announcement, it seems BOØWY's legacy continues to resonate with both longtime fans and the Japanese rock community at large.
