Composer Shuta Hasunuma Releases New Track 'AURA' Ahead of Anniversary Concert
Japanese composer Shuta Hasunuma is releasing the new single 'AURA' on June 10 as the first creative work leading up to his 20th anniversary concert at Suntory Hall in August, where collaborator U-zhaan will handle venue announcements.

Shuta Hasunuma is gearing up for a milestone year with the release of 'AURA,' a new single arriving June 10. The track marks the first major piece created in anticipation of his 20th anniversary concert, scheduled for August 6 at Suntory Hall's Grand Theater in Tokyo.
The concert will feature Hasunuma's ambitious "Wフィル" (Double Philharmonic Orchestra) project, bringing together 41 musicians across multiple ensembles. The lineup includes members from his established Philharmonic ensemble alongside a dedicated string section, creating an expanded sonic palette for the occasion.
Hashnuma described the vision behind the performance: "I always say, 'leap from music.' At Suntory Hall, where ultimate resonance is born, 41 musicians and all of you in the audience will truly leap together. We carefully craft each note, layer them, and they resonate. See you at Suntory Hall this summer."
U-zhaan, Hasunuma's longtime collaborator, will handle opening remarks and venue announcements during the concert. The partnership echoes a previous collaboration at the Hibiya Open-Air Music Hall in 2019, where U-zhaan's humorous announcements became part of the event's charm. The two have worked together since 2017, when they released the collaborative album "2 Tone."
Hashunuma's career spans two decades of experimental composition and orchestral innovation. Since his 2006 indie debut, he's built a reputation for dissolving boundaries between classical, contemporary, and popular music through his various ensembles and projects. In 2019, he received the Minister's Award for Excellence in the Arts in the Media Arts category as an emerging artist.
Tickets for the Suntory Hall concert go on general sale June 6 at 10:00 AM through major Japanese ticket vendors. With 'AURA' arriving just days before ticket sales, fans will have fresh material from Hasunuma as they prepare for what promises to be a significant evening of experimental orchestral music.
