Where their recent singles "Daydreaming" and "Purple Sunshine" showed more restraint, "The Unknown" leans into distorted, aggressive bass work throughout. It's their most ferocious approach to date—already tested during live shows before its official release. Mixing duties fell to Liam Nolan, with mastering handled by Matt Colton, the same team behind "Purple Sunshine."

Beyond the single, D.A.N. is gearing up for their first full album in roughly four years. The record will arrive sometime this fall, though specifics remain under wraps for now.

The band—comprising Daigo Sakuragi (guitar, vocals, synth), Jinya Ichikawa (bass), and Hikari Kawakami (drums)—has quietly built a solid reputation since forming in 2014. They've opened for major acts like James Blake and The xx during Japan tours, and their 2021 album "NO MOON" stands as their most recent full-length release.

Fans wanting to catch D.A.N. live won't have to wait long. The band plays August 21 at Spotify O-EAST in Tokyo as part of an event organized by Natalie Music, sharing the bill with musician Hakushi Hasegawa in a two-band format. Tickets went into second-wave presale through Ticketpia on July 2.
