South Korea's newest visual kei band DEAD BOY has arrived, bringing a heavy blend of metal, electronic elements, and theatrical vocals to the scene. The five-piece group revealed their lineup on May 12 after teasing their logo on May 4, introducing vocalist Yoel, guitarists KAMI and Darae, bassist Dong Hwan Kim, and drummer 242.

The band operates under the label nO aUTHORITY, joining an roster that includes Madmans Esprit and Clownus. What makes DEAD BOY particularly interesting is the pedigree of its members. Vocalist Yoel brings extensive experience from the Asian music scene, having worked as a drummer and musician for idol groups NEKIRU and LuciDreaM, performed in rock band MYORI, and contributed to Madmans Esprit before their current lineup. Guitarist Darae also carries connections to NEKIRU and LuciDreaM, having provided guitar for both groups. Together with bassist Dong Hwan Kim and drummer 242, the band has crafted something distinctly heavy.

Their debut single "DeAd DreAm," which dropped May 20, showcases why the anticipation was worth the wait. The track opens as straight metal but gradually reveals layers of complexity. Yoel's vocals steal the show, spanning an impressive range from ferocious yells and brutal low growls to clean, crystalline passages and operatic belts. The interplay between KAMI and Darae's guitars is particularly powerful during breakdowns, while the rhythm section—anchored by Dong Hwan Kim's bass rumble and 242's thunderous drumming—creates a wall of sound. Electronic elements weave throughout, adding groove to choruses and featuring an eccentric synth solo that Yoel himself handles.

"DeAd DreAm" officially releases as a single on June 11. For those interested in catching DEAD BOY live, their South Korean debut comes June 28 at KT&G Sangsangmadang in Seoul, where they'll open for Madmans Esprit.
