D'ESPAIRSRAY fans have plenty to celebrate: the visual kei veterans released their first single in 16 years on May 13. Titled 'RAPTURE,' the track arrives with a gothic music video that leans hard into the band's theatrical roots.

The accompanying video is pure D'ESPAIRSRAY—ritualistic imagery, dark storytelling, and their signature heavy sound. It opens with vocalist HIZUMI lying motionless in a coffin, surrounded by his black-robed bandmates. Guitarist Karyu forces the vocalist awake by pouring poison into his mouth, triggering HIZUMI to whisper the song's opening lyrics. When drummer TSUKASA drops a sword, the screen shatters like glass, and HIZUMI jolts upright with a growl as the track kicks in.

The video's second half shifts to a Frankenstein-like narrative: a figure in a skull mask awakens an elderly man via electric chair and metal headpiece. As HIZUMI sings "Break my past, I'm reborn, Break my fate, I'm ready," the man writes these words before ultimately turning on his creator and escaping. The parallel is deliberate—the song's lyrics mirror the band's own resurrection after years away.

The title itself reinforces this resurrection theme. "Rapture" carries Christian imagery of believers rising from the dead, and notably, the letter "T" in 'RAPTURE' is replaced with a cross symbol on the artwork, cementing the spiritual rebirth narrative.

'RAPTURE' features five tracks total: the title song plus four instrumental variations (vocalless, guitarless, bassless, and drumless), all available across physical and digital formats. It's a full package that shows the band hasn't lost their edge after so long away.
