DJ Mitsu the Beats, the producer half of Sendai-based hip-hop legends GAGLE, is stepping into new territory with a fresh collaboration. The project pairs him with vocalist iri on "Kasaneru," set to arrive June 12 across streaming platforms.

This marks the first time the two have worked together. According to the announcement, iri's vocals layer naturally over DJ Mitsu the Beats' signature production, creating what's described as a mellow, groove-focused track with warm, inviting vibes. Iri also contributed the lyrics to the song.

About DJ Mitsu the Beats and GAGLE

GAGLE formed back in 1996 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, with the core trio of HUNGER (MC), DJ Mitsu the Beats (DJ), and DJ Mu-R (DJ). After dropping their debut album "Bust the Facts" in 2001, they went major in 2004 and have remained rooted in their hometown ever since. Their jazzy, groove-heavy sound and skilled lyricism have earned respect across Japan's hip-hop scene and beyond.

The group isn't afraid to experiment. In 2018, they released "Vanta Black," an album that incorporated deep house and techno influences—a sonic departure that caught listeners' attention and showed their willingness to evolve. More recently, they've remained active with releases like their eighth album "3 Men Kyo" earlier this year.

What to Expect

With DJ Mitsu the Beats' jazzy, groove-oriented production style meeting iri's vocals, "Kasaneru" (which translates to "layering" or "stacking") seems designed as a smooth, atmospheric track. It's a natural fit—iri has built a reputation for her emotive delivery and artistic sensibility, while DJ Mitsu the Beats continues to craft beats that feel timeless.

For fans of either artist, this collaboration offers an interesting crossover point between hip-hop production and vocal-focused contemporary music. Mark your calendars for June 12.
