KAKI, the drummer behind hardcore punk band Tetsuarei and the four-piece group Blackor..., has died at 37. The news was announced through Blackor...'s official X account on June 25, following his passing on June 23.

KAKI, whose real name was Shuji Kakinuma, was known for his work with Tetsuarei as a core member of the hardcore punk scene. More recently, he had taken on drumming duties for Blackor..., where he performed alongside vocalist MAI, guitarist TARO, and bassist ALI.

A funeral service will be held on July 4 at Honest Toda-Koen in Saitama.

Despite the loss, Blackor... will move forward with their scheduled performance. The band will appear as a three-piece—MAI on vocals, TARO on guitar, and ALI on bass—at tomorrow's "MAXIMUM☆ENGINE" event on June 26 at Heaven's Door in Tokyo's Sangenjaya neighborhood. Other upcoming live appearances will be announced at a later date.

The MAXIMUM☆ENGINE lineup for June 26 also includes fellow acts The Eastern Monkeys, PUNiK, Botolph Dissidents, and LOVETWIN.

KAKI's contributions to both the hardcore punk and alternative rock scenes left an impact on Tokyo's underground music community. His work with Tetsuarei helped define the sound of the local punk movement, while his recent involvement with Blackor... showed his versatility as a musician across different musical styles.

Fans and fellow musicians in the Japanese rock and punk scenes have begun sharing tributes and memories, recognizing KAKI's role in shaping the live music landscape in Tokyo and beyond.
