FREEDOM NAGOYA 2026 Adds PUFFY, Conton Candy to Free Festival Lineup
FREEDOM NAGOYA 2026 has revealed its third wave of performers, adding veteran pop duo PUFFY alongside rising acts Conton Candy, yonige, and Futsutai-cho to the festival's growing roster.
The free admission rock festival takes place May 16-17 at a special outdoor stage in Nagoya's Odaka Green Space (Nagoya Odaka Ryokuchi). This marks another strong addition to what's shaping up to be an impressive lineup for the 2026 edition.
PUFFY brings serious star power to the festival. The duo of Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura rose to fame in the mid-90s with hits like "Kore ga Watashi no Ikiru Michi" and gained international recognition through their animated series "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi" on Cartoon Network. Their inclusion adds both nostalgic appeal and cross-generational draw to the event.
The announcement also includes several notable up-and-coming acts. Conton Candy represents the newer wave of Japanese indie pop, while yonige has been building a dedicated following in the alternative rock scene. Futsutai-cho (literally "Normal Captain") rounds out this diverse third wave with their unique approach to Japanese rock.
With free admission and multiple days of programming, FREEDOM NAGOYA continues positioning itself as an accessible entry point for music fans in the Chubu region. The festival's commitment to mixing established acts with emerging talent creates an appealing balance for attendees of all ages.
More performer announcements are expected as the festival builds toward its May dates.
