FRUITS ZIPPER's Nakagawa Ruka Covers Awich's 'Bad Bad' on Re:Re:Re:TUNE
FRUITS ZIPPER member Nakagawa Ruka will premiere an acoustic cover of Awich's 'Bad Bad' on YouTube tomorrow, fulfilling a long-held dream to appear on the popular cover series Re:Re:Re:TUNE.

FRUITS ZIPPER's Nakagawa Ruka is stepping into new territory. The idol will debut on the YouTube series Re:Re:Re:TUNE tomorrow (June 16) at 7 PM with an acoustic cover of Awich's "Bad Bad," marking a chance to showcase a different side of herself.
The appearance comes after Nakagawa personally requested to be part of the series, which invites various artists to reimagine classic songs through their own artistic lens. "I've always loved watching cover and acoustic guitar videos, so I've wanted to appear on Re:Re:Re:TUNE for a while. I'm really happy it's finally happening," she explained.
For her cover choice, Nakagawa selected Awich's 2020 track "Bad Bad"—a song produced by Chaki Zulu that captures both the joy and bittersweet feelings of falling for someone. The decision reflects her admiration for Awich's artistry. "Usually I get to play the cute idol role, but Awich gives off such strong, powerful energy that I really admire her," Nakagawa said. "This song especially has been a favorite of mine for a long time."
The acoustic arrangement allows Nakagawa to present herself differently from her typical FRUITS ZIPPER image. She worked to honor Awich's original while adding her own interpretation, emphasizing groove and bringing a sleek, delicate sensibility to the performance. "I sang it with respect for the original artist and focused on the groove," she noted. "I hope I was able to show everyone a side of me that's different from my usual idol self."
FRUITS ZIPPER, which debuted under the "KAWAII LAB." project in 2022, has grown significantly since their viral TikTok moment with "Watashi no Ichiban Kawaii Tokoro." The group earned the Japan Record Awards' Best New Artist award in 2023 and has since performed at major venues like the Nippon Budokan.
Beyond tomorrow's premiere, Re:Re:Re:TUNE plans to release interviews and behind-the-scenes footage featuring Nakagawa in the coming weeks.
