A fresh audition platform for emerging female rappers has launched in Japan. GOLDEN MIC, organized by veteran hip-hop figure Zeebra, is now accepting applications through June 20 at 11:59 PM on its official website.

The project aims to discover new talent regardless of age or prior experience. Track production duties fell to STUTS, with additional beats from Chaki Zulu and KM—all available on the audition site for participants to use. Visual branding was created by artist and graphic designer AsahiNa.

Winners won't just get bragging rights. The competition comes with real support: successful rappers receive artist development funding, exposure on both broadcast and streaming platforms, and backing from a newly formed label. That level of infrastructure is rare in audition competitions and signals serious commitment to launching careers.

The audition results will air on Nippon Television (NTV) on August 27, 2026, starting at 12:59 AM. Hulu will also stream a special extended version with additional behind-the-scenes footage not included in the broadcast.

Zeebra's involvement carries weight in Japanese hip-hop circles. As a respected figure who helped establish the underground rap scene in Japan, his role as organizer lends credibility to the project. By tapping established producers like STUTS for the competition's foundation, GOLDEN MIC positions itself as more than just entertainment—it's designed to identify and properly develop serious talent.

For aspiring female rappers in Japan, this represents a significant opportunity. The combination of legitimate industry backing, media exposure, and direct financial support makes GOLDEN MIC different from typical talent searches. Whether you're already performing or just getting started, applications are open now.
