Ikuzo Yamazaki, known for his stage work and recent appearances in Japanese dramas and musicals, is stepping into anime territory with his new ballad 'Kokoro Boshi.' The track will serve as the ending theme for 'Oni no Hanayome' (The Demon's Bride), which launches July 4, 2026, on TOKYO MX and partner networks.

'Kokoro Boshi' was written specifically for the anime and explores themes of love and longing. The song uses the metaphor of the North Star to describe the importance of a loved one—someone who guides you through darkness. The track will release digitally on June 24.

The anime adapts a fantasy romance novel by Kureha and its manga adaptation by Junichi Togashi. The story follows Yuzuko, an ordinary high school student, who encounters Reiyo, a demon at the top of the supernatural hierarchy, in a world where humans and "ayakashi" (spirits) coexist. It's billed as a Japanese-style Cinderella story blending supernatural fantasy with romance.

In a statement about taking on the theme, Yamazaki reflected on what drew him to the project: "I was deeply moved by the strength hidden within the work's melancholy, and the beauty of love itself. The fates and feelings of the characters became clearer to me, and I'm genuinely happy that 'Kokoro Boshi' aligns with the world of this story."

Yamazaki brings considerable credentials to the role. A veteran of prestigious musicals like "Les Misérables," "Mozart!" and "Elisabeth," he's also appeared in several high-profile Japanese dramas including NHK's "Elu" and the historical series "Seitenwo Tsuke." Most recently, he's taken on starring roles in TV dramas and even ventured into music production and artist mentorship.

'Oni no Hanayome' airs Saturday nights starting July 4 at 12:30 AM on TOKYO MX. The show will continue weekly at the same time slot.
