J-Pop Idols Branch Into Acting and Commercial Work
New Hama Leon appears in a traditional sweets commercial while Ultra Tokimekiβ‘Sendenbu's Yoshikawa Hiyori lands a guest role in TBS drama series.

Two J-Pop performers are making moves beyond music this month, taking on commercial and acting opportunities.
New Hama Leon has been tapped for a television commercial by Nagomi no Komeya, a long-established traditional confectionery company based in Narita, Chiba Prefecture. The ad reportedly features Leon's enthusiastic reaction to the sweets, with the catchphrase "Minna-san, tabete oku Leon!!" (Everyone, you should eat this!!) accompanied by knee-slapping gestures.
Yoshikawa Hiyori from the idol group Ultra Tokimekiβ‘Sendenbu (often shortened to Ultra Tokisen) will appear in the February 15th episode of TBS's Sunday drama "Reboot," starring Suzuki Ryohei. She'll play an office worker at a location connected to illegal part-time work schemes - a departure from her usual idol activities.
Ultra Tokimekiβ‘Sendenbu, formed in 2015, is known for their energetic performances and colorful pop sound. The group has been gradually expanding their individual activities, with members taking on various entertainment industry roles beyond their group work.
These crossover opportunities highlight how J-Pop performers increasingly diversify their careers, using their popularity to enter television, film, and advertising. For international fans, it's another way to see their favorite artists in different contexts, even if the content doesn't always make it overseas.
Both appearances represent the ongoing trend of idol groups and solo artists leveraging their musical success into broader entertainment industry presence.
