Japanese entertainment has plenty to celebrate this week, with announcements spanning anime, theater, and music.

Chō Tokkyū Members Debut as Voice Actors

Band members Kai and Ryōga from Chō Tokkyū are stepping into voice acting for the anime "Tada, Ojama Saremasu!" (Tadaima, Ojamaされます!), appearing in episodes 9 and 10. The group already provided the anime's opening theme "C'est la vie," but this marks their first time lending their voices to characters.

Ryōga revealed he's been passionate about voice acting for years but hesitated, not wanting to "contaminate" what he sees as a sacred profession. "I kept wrestling with it, but somehow the recording sessions ended up on my schedule," he said with a laugh. "Recording was such a happy time. I have no regrets now."

Kai added his enthusiasm, saying the opportunity to contribute both the theme song and appear as cast members exceeded his expectations. Both members hope their participation might encourage fans to watch the series while remaining humble about their small roles.

The episodes air June 2 on Nippon Television.

Musicals and New Releases

Theatrical productions are also making headlines. A musical adaptation of the popular K-drama "Crash Landing on You" will run in Tokyo and Osaka from July through August, with actor Michiaki Yamiyama taking on the lead role of Ri Jeong-hyeok.

On the music front, artist Monaki is capitalizing on her debut single momentum. The group is releasing C-type and D-type versions of "Honma Yade☆Nande Yakin☆Shiran Kedo" on July 29. A special hypercharged rearrangement called "Honma Yade☆Nande Yakin☆Shiran Kedo <<HYPER TSUKKOMI ENERGY VIBES>>" drops today on TikTok ahead of the full release.

Meanwhile, music criticism takes center stage as a two-volume collection of essays by late music critic and Rock'in'On founder Shibuya Yōichi releases on June 9—what would have been his 75th birthday. The volumes span his work from 1972 through 2025, with a cover comment from musician Kuwata Keisuke.
